Jean Russell is a poet, playwright, and storyteller. She is a member of the Poetry Society of Virginia, and an active member of Poets Anonymous, an "informal" and diverse group that meets to read and listen to poetry. Her poems have been published by Poets Anonymous in annual anthologies, (proceeds from all sales are donated to Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C.), and in numerous other publications. Her works have been featured in the "Poets and Painters" exhibits and readings presented at Borders Books and Music in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., and Reston Art Gallery in Reston, Virginia. Her present goal is to co-direct a stage production of her play, Petunia, a drama about adult survivors of sexual abuse.
